About Colin
Colin Shuran is a writer and award-winning filmmaker from Tennessee.
His debut documentary film My Friend Karl received international acclaim at the Houston International Film Festival, winning a Remi Award (which has seen the likes of Steven Spielberg and Spike Lee). For his work, he has been featured in various publications, including the cover page and feature story for Think Tullahoma and Living Lutheran magazines, respectively. He is also a TEDx speaker, presenting a speech called "We Have a Crisis of Empathy, and Here's How to Fix It."
As a professional, Colin currently teaches 4th grade ELA. He is also a graduate student in the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History program at Gettysburg College. In his free time, he enjoys reading books (especially the classics), exercising, spending time outdoors, playing percussion instruments, and traveling around the world.
